The country house “L’uva e le stelle” (i.e grapes and stars) is an old house on the top of a panoramic hill (450 Mt. a.s.l.), just 8 Km. far from Orvieto and 10 Km. from Civita di Bagnoregio and the Bolsena lake.

The swimming pool and the country hose have both been recently restored, in accordance with the green surroundings, respecting the original building techniques, recovering old terracotta tiled floors as well as the original roof with its big chestnut beams.

Thanks to its unique position, surrounded by olive trees and vineyards, lying on a hill just a few miles far from the medieval village of Porano, at night you will feel surrounded by stars…this is the right place to discover the beauties of a life “en plein air”, as well as relax, culture and history which characterize this land between Orvieto and Viterbo, between the Roman and the Etruscan cultures.

Five two-roomed apartments (each one called after a different constellation) are fully furnished with antique furniture, personalized thanks to the different colours of the walls and the furniture itself.

Orion, perseus and cassiopeia are on the first floor, while the great bear (without obstacles) and the swan are on the ground floor, each one with a private patio.

Each apartment has a living room with double sofa bed, a modern kitchen with a big fridge, electric oven and microwave, a double bedroom, bath with shower and hairdryer, independent heating, washing line, telephone, Tv set and fly screens.

The common area, on the ground floor, near the reception, is characterized by a big fireplace, around which – at your request – you can have your breakfast: different marmalades, home made cakes, cereals, yogurt and fresh fruits; the room is linked - through a small terracotta and iron stairway - to an old, charming cave, where you can taste the different wines by Cantina Altarocca.

Two barbeques and a laundry with washing machine and basin for hand washing are at your disposal.

Our guests can use the panoramic swimming pool with solarium (made of white granite) and a Jacuzzi pool; if you want to sunbathe tables, deckchairs, beach umbrellas are at your disposal.
Our guests can take advantage of some mountain bikes whenever they need to keep fit, or just in order to go shopping or to have a trip until the small village of Porano, less than one Km. far.
A covered car park belongs to the country house.
Different accommodations are available: with breakfast, daily linen and cleaning.

Motorway “Autostrada del Sole” (A1 between Rome and Florence), exit Orvieto. Coming from E45: exit Todi, then drive along the Corbara lake, heading for Orvieto. From the Motorway toll: drive direction Orvieto Scalo, at the roundabout turn left (third exit of the roundabout) then follow the indication to Porano/Bagnoregio. After about 700 Mt. you’ll see a junction, just after an Opel car dealer, turn left following the indication to Porano. At the following junction you’ll se two road signs indicating Porano: follow the one showing 9 Km. (direction Canale). Go along this road (a uphill road in part..) crossing the village Canale; drive for about 1Km and half until the junction to Porano: turn on the right and after 300 Mt. you’ll find the country house on your left.

The railway station of Orvieto is on the chief north-south train line: there are trains from and for Rome and Florence about every hour.

It is available a bus linee, a taxi service and a rent car from the station of Orvieto Scalo to the Country House.
